From Framework Adoption to Capability Development
The shift that changes how organizations improve
One of the biggest shifts in my work over the last few years has been moving away from the traditional “training and transformation” model toward continuous capability development.
At first glance this may sound subtle, but it changes almost everything.
The traditional model focuses on:
learning information
adopting frameworks
attending workshops
introducing practices
periodic transformation initiatives
The newer model focuses on:
building capability
improving continuously while working
understanding systems and people more effectively
applying practices contextually
developing internal organizational capability over time
This has led to several important shifts in how I think about improvement.
Instead of:
learning → improvement
the focus becomes:
improvement as the mechanism for learning
Instead of:
framework adoption
the focus becomes:
building the capability to continuously evolve your current way of working
Instead of:
short, intense workshops separated from work
the focus becomes:
continuous capability development integrated into daily work
These shifts led me to create several interconnected pieces that now work together as an integrated system.
1. Amplio
Amplio is the overall capability-building system.
It integrates:
systems thinking
system dynamics
perceptual dynamics
learning dynamics
adaptive practices
and dealing with uncertainty and complexity
Amplio is not a framework replacement.
It is a way to continuously improve how organizations create value, make decisions, learn, and adapt.
2. Amplio Capability Development Journeys
These provide structured paths for developing capability in different roles and domains.
Current paths include:
transition agents / consultants
product management
management
team leads
practitioners
These are not static training tracks.
They are role-based capability development paths integrated with real-world application and ongoing support.
These journeys are designed so:
people can enter at any stage and progress at their own pace
capability is built while working on real situations
learning is integrated into daily work rather than separated from it
people can focus on the capabilities most relevant to their current challenges
improvement happens through application, reflection, feedback, and guided support
capability compounds over time rather than fading after training
guidance is continuously available through AmpGPT, the Amplio system, and live sessions
3. AmpGPT
AmpGPT is an AI-based expert system built on the Amplio model.
This is a major differentiator.
Most AI systems are designed primarily to increase speed or automate output.
AmpGPT is designed to help people think better, diagnose situations more effectively, and continuously build capability while working.
It integrates:
systems thinking
organizational dynamics
coaching approaches
capability development
contextual guidance
and practical application support
AmpGPT provides scalable, continuous support that would traditionally require large numbers of coaches or consultants.
4. The Amplio Capability Development System (ACDS)
The ACDS operationalizes all of this at the organizational level.
It combines:
capability development
diagnostics
dynamics-driven improvement
internal capability building
AI-supported guidance
and continuous improvement
The goal is not dependency on external consultants.
The goal is developing internal organizational capability that continues improving over time.
These pieces combine to support several different engagement models.
Current Programs and Engagement Models
1. Open Self-Learning and Community Participation
People can participate freely through:
weekly Wednesday sessions
interaction with AmpGPT
open discussions and exploration
This creates an accessible entry point into the system and allows people to begin improving immediately.
2. Individual Subscription Programs
Individuals can subscribe for:
guided capability development
structured progression
ongoing support
role-based development paths
and access to Amplio Capability Journeys
This supports people who want to deepen their capabilities over time.
3. Annual Capability Development Memberships
These provide broader access to:
materials
structured journeys
community interaction
ongoing guidance
and deeper integration into the Amplio system
The emphasis is not certification for its own sake, but sustained capability growth.
4. Organization-Wide ACDS Engagements
At the organizational level, the ACDS helps companies:
diagnose what is limiting effectiveness
improve delivery and alignment
build internal capability
develop transition agents internally
integrate AI-supported improvement
and create sustainable continuous improvement systems
This can include:
full organizational engagements
internal cohorts
leadership development
management capability development
product management improvement
transition agent development
and organization-wide capability building
What makes all of this different is that these pieces are designed to reinforce each other.
The system is not:
training disconnected from work
AI disconnected from capability
frameworks disconnected from context
or improvement disconnected from learning
It is an integrated capability-building ecosystem designed to help organizations continuously evolve in increasingly complex and fast-changing environments.
